Overview
As part of a collaboration between luxury watchmaker Hublot, creative studio FutureDeluxe, and engineering specialists Robo Challenge, I was commissioned to design the Human-Machine Interface (HMI) for an interactive kinetic sculpture. The piece was unveiled at the prestigious Watches & Wonders event in Geneva.
My Contribution
- Designed the full HMI interface using PIStudio to control five motorised rings within the sculpture.
- Created all on-screen UI assets and custom layouts to reflect Hublot’s luxury visual identity.
- Focused on responsive interaction, sleek motion graphics, and seamless integration with mechanical elements.
- Assisted with physical installation on-site in Geneva, supporting final testing, calibration, and show-ready presentation.
- Collaborated closely with engineers at Robo Challenge and creative directors at FutureDeluxe to ensure alignment across visual, functional, and brand requirements.
Design Approach
The interface was designed to match the sleek, high-tech feel of the kinetic sculpture while maintaining Hublot’s luxury aesthetic. Strong geometric forms, minimal colour palettes, and smooth animated transitions were used to elevate the viewer’s experience and support precise mechanical control. The goal was to create an interface that was both functional and visually captivating in a high-end event environment.
